Title: SA 1898 Found In Garbage......Keeper????? Post by Material Handler on Jan 16th, 2010 at 11:44pm
I found a Springfield Armory Model 1898 in the garbage at work today. The serial number is 419539. The rifle has some condition issues. The stock is completely broken about 2 inches behind the trigger guard. The metal is in nice shape. Action on the bolt seems good. It is also missing the sling. The barrel is not cut down.
I tried to do some research online, but decided to consult the experts. I would like to make a project out of this, and restore it. My question is.....can I get an original stock replacement? Is it worth it to do so? Where can I get one? How much should I pay? Ultimately.......Should I just put it back in the garbage? Any help is much appreciated.....Thank you! |
