Title: Re: Question for Ned Butts: "Nazi Occupation Carbine" Post by mussonor on Mar 21st, 2010 at 8:58am
Hi.
I've invetigated more. Out of the serial, marked Nb yours is not a "stomperud". Stomperuds were marked in the Nc series. I was missled by the front sight and barrel dia there. Seems like your front sight been de-soldered, cut down at rear up to sight base, barrel cut and sight resoldered. Yes the handguard is the wooden pice on top of barrel round the rear sight. The butplate on yours should then be simular to m94. Total of 2600 were made like yours, and 1000 in the Nb series in 1944. So yours should look like the one Ned Butts referred to here: (You need to Login. The other listed (You need to Login is supposed to be a Stomperud, but total wrong stock as it is made from a norwegian krag carabine 1912 stock. The stomperuds were plain m94 that only had the front cut down 18cm. This wrong reconstructed went for a lot of $, so you have a pretty good margin on restauration on yours i would say. Biggest problem is perhaps getting new barrel with correct length. |
