The theory makes sense, but I doubt you'd be able to get the part(s) through the blade opening.

I'd guess the "T" piece(s) would require the least work to find out whether they WOULD work. The ideal would be an 8" long hex-head bolt (3/16"?) with about a half-inch of thread. File/grind opposing curved surfaces on the head - stick it in - thread on a couple of nuts and twist away. Make sure the curves are oriented so that the nuts jam when twisted, of course.  :-)
