Title: Krag Ammunition Buying Power Block
Post by etexastea on Nov 22nd, 2010 at 9:01pm
Hi everyone.  I am getting into buying and shooting all of the front line infantry rifles and carbines from the time the US army had metal cartridges (Trapdoors) to today (the M16 and resurrected M14).  I have noticed a big problem with 30-40 Krag ammo and its supply.  So I called up Remington today and had a chat with one of the guys who makes plant runs and he mentioned that they ran 90,000 rounds last year in ammo (I didnt think to ask about the brass or if that included brass only).

I asked if I could get enough people together if we could purchase direct from them but he made mention we would need around 1,000,000 rounds to get on this list.  I thought maybe that might be tough to gather up that kind of interest in this Association.  He did mention, however, that we could get some serious bargining power by getting a block of buyers to negotiate with a reseller like Midway or Mid South etc.  My thoughts where to see if anyone had any interest and at what price.

I was thinking a resonable price per round would be 90 cents to 1.10 and I could buy 1000 rounds at that level.

Anyone else?

Cheers,

Chris of Carnation Wa

I also thought that we might get our thoughts together here and see if the Chairman might consider putting out an email on this to generate some more interest once we had our ideas nailed down; ie are we looking for just brass, or ammo and if ammo what kind of ammo 150 or 180 speer or 220 RN?

Cheers,

Chris
