Congrats on the new Krag. I also have an 1896 Krag, built in 1897, but it was sporterized. I still enjoy it thoroughly. Check out your sling, it may be 1907 style. Others can give you a better idea. Might be splittin hairs. But you have a nice original rifle there and it may be something you can do to make it more period correct. Of course, I may be wrong about the sling, its happened before.
