I guess I have to ask, how do I remove the cleaning rod? It will not turn clockwise & if I turn counter clockwise I unscrew a short piece 8-5/8" including male threaded end.
Sorry, I have never tried to remove it.

Ok. I removed the cleaning rod on the 1916 and it is the same length 8-5/8" rod as the 1916.
