Thanks for all the history and information.
I tried to put the 1916 cleaning rod in the 1944, but it would not fit. I got my digital caliper and measured the diameter of each rod.
The 1916 rod is 5.62 mm thick.
The 1944 rod is 5.45 mm thick.
I also measured the outside diameter of the end of the barrels.
The 1916 barrel end measures 15.12 mm.
The 1944 barrel end measures 15.08 mm.
I'm not sure if any of this means anything, but just thought I would mention it.
