I believe original stock for an 1898 Krag is 46.5 in. I have a cut down stock at the lower band. Can I use a forearm piece to go from the lower band and the upper band? Baker

Yes, a LOT of Krags have been restored by adding a new forend. If done well, the repair is basically invisible.
