A dealer near me who sells lots of used rifles presently has two Krags. 

One is model 1894, serial # 11265, priced at $7xx (I forgot to write it down).  It appears mostly original, except the stock's fore end has been shortened, and the stock shows some other cuts and abuse.  I believe it has a 26 inch barrel. It seems to have the original sights.  The bore seems typical for a gun that has been fired in the era of corrosive primers. 

The other is model 1898, serial # 217908, 30-inch barrel, priced at $595.  The stock has been cut down and refinished with a relatively nice appearance.  It has a peep sight of some style I never saw before mounted at the rear of the receiver.  The peep sight prevented removing the bolt, so I could not check the bore.

Are those prices good?  Any other comments? I would appreciate any comments on whether those serial numbers are significant.  Thanks.

Neither of the serial numbers show up in the SRS data. Pictures would help determine the value of the rifles, but, from your description,  both sound like they have been altered from the "as issued" condition.

On the 1894 the problem sounds like the stock.  I have seen people selling forestocks that you can add and make it appear to be a full-stock again.  The barrel should be 30", if shorter then it is either a carbine (lucky you) or a cut-down rifle which would diminish its value.  I think that unless it is a genuine carbine then $7XX is about $400 too much.

On the 1898 the stock is also a problem.  If it has the original front sight and the receiver has not been drilled and tapped for the rear sight then it might be worth in the $4-$500 range depending on bore condition.  You would still need a forestock (or complete stock) plus a rear sight to make it whole.  These parts could easily cost you upwards of $300.  If the receiver has been drilled and tapped for the sight, then value just plummeted to maybe $250. 

These are just ballpark numbers based on my limited knowledge.  As 98src said photos would help, but hard to take of someone else's rifles.
