Title: Seeking Help From The Well Informed...
Post by Batman on Jun 24th, 2011 at 11:05pm
I've recently been given a US Springfield Krag. It belonged to my great grandfather. I'm not looking to sell it or anything like that. I'm just curious about it. Been looking online for the past 3 days and can't seem to find a picture of one that looks like it. To me, that means it's either rare or modded. I'm thinking the latter. Stumbled across this site and if ever there was a place to ask for here, it's here for sure. It's dated at 1896 but the SN starts with a 92XXX and according to Oldguns.net and unless I made a mistake, it said it was an 1898. Also, from the pictures I've seen, the hand....grip? area doesn't have as distinct of a groove as others. Sorry, I'm not savvy to rifle terms yet. Any information on this will be greatly appreciated. I've taken a few pictures to better assist whomever can help. If a specific angle is required, I can do my best to accommodate.
