Hello fellow Krag enthusiasts

I just joined this forum.  I have 2 Krags; an 1896, probably a Bannerman sporter with a WW1 surplus Springfield barrel; and a DCM carbine altered from an 1898 rifle by Benecia Arsenal.

Also I am caretaker of a Model 1898 Gallery practice Rifle, sporterized by some imaginative wood and metalworker years back.  It is one of the early ones chambered for 22 Extra Long, with .226" groove diameter and an 18" twist.  For the last 18 months, I have been trying to coax some accuracy out of this rifle.  In theory, it should shoot CCI Stingers pretty well, but all that fancy 22 ammo is very hard to come by.  I am currently reworking Eley Club and Wolf Match and SK Jagd with both a PACO Accurizer and a Waltz bump die.  Nothing to recommend so far.  With Eley Club, the shots will stay in the 8-ring of a 100 yard smallbore target at 100 yards.  Just for kicks, I entered it in a "South of the Border" or "Chasing Pancho Villa" match, shooting prone at 100 yards.  I came in 4th out of 10 participants.
