Title: Help with identifying my inherited Krag
Post by Dan@claritypoolservice on Mar 1st, 2012 at 5:37pm
Good day all. Was wondering if someone could help me in correctly identifying a Krag that I have had for some time. Inherited from my father. It is chambered in 6.5x55 mm but is stamped with 1896 Steyr and looks like the serial number is 8757. As far as I can find on the internet the only 1896 models were US Krags and they were chambered in .30-40.  It definitely looks like a Norwegian but the date stamp does not match up so to speak. I can post pics later tonight if that will help. She shoots very nice but haven't shot it in quite a few years as I need a magazine spring and the pin to keep the plate on the left side in place. Just shoot it as a single shot when I took it out before. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
