No, they absolutely did not.
Perhaps the rifles simply have 1903 barrels? This was a very common practice in the 30s-50s, when such barrels cost next to nothing, but I seriously doubt that any gunsmith in their right mind would have left the chamber as-is. Try an '06 round - I'll bet it won't chamber. |
