I'am a new member: I've been doing alot of site reading different posts, Just a little back ground, I've a 1903 sense 1970, marine, bought it in hawaii, when I was on active duty. I shoot it every year, and I've deer hunted with it. age has caught up with my eyes, so I hunt with a Remington 700 243, redfield 4X scope. last month I bought a Krag, 1898 in a cut down carbine. it looks like it's that California Mod that was done in the 30's. The Krag was bought out of an estate, in California. The rear site is Carbine, has the (C), the front site is (A3) with no hood. 1903 corttage on the left Serial  #469673 the front metal stock guard has a pin thru the stock ahead of the guard and a (U) is stamped on the right side of the guard.it shoots really sweet,at 100 yards, it has another Corttage behind the trigger guard a circle with e.1.3 I think! also the trigger guard has something stamped on it but it's very hard to read. If any of the members would like to comment good or bad I would like to hear it Be safe and shoot clean  Sunny
