rice123: I doubt your Krag was "duffle-cut" by a soldier to get it back home. It is far more likely the stock was shortened in a sporterizing attempt. At a later date, someone has spliced on a fore-stock as a restoration. I would check the wood grain and finish very carefully, outside and inside the barrel channel, for subtle differences to ascertain if the wood parts are different. Good clear pictures would get knowledgeable opinions.
