Has anyone looked at these two carbines if they are correct?

Serial numbers are 26253 and 33557.  Photos indicate they are correct, but...

What auction site?

Gunbroker for the 26253 and auction arms for the 33557.

They'd both seem to be OK, each has some very minor annoyances, like buggered off-color sight screws, and a hand-filed front blade on the GB, but I don't see any major issues at all. That said, IMHO, the GB is much the better buy - the crack can be glued, and the bolt notch and HG aren't wrecked like on the AA. I am naturally biased towards GB as I really cannot stand the "ambience" at AA. I have no idea how they stay in business. Should ask the GB guy how many rod holes in the butt. Just MIGHT be only two, since it (correctly) is a thin-wrist. if so, that's very rare.

Just returned from a gun show and was shocked at how few collectible arms were shown.  It has been 20 years since I last went to one, so did I hit one loser or has the collectible arms gone to the auction?

I've talked to a few gun store owners and they said that collectible guns are not moving. People are more interested in black rifles than old rifles. I figured that people would want to sell their old rifles to pay bills, but they are holding on to everything as long as they can.

I think that's the case.  With the run on ammo and hyper-inflated prices we've been seeing over the last few months, I initially chalked it up to hysteria, however, my club had its annual Spring gun show last weekend and the turnout was unbelievable.  I'm less inclined to think of it as hysteria and paranoia but rather, honest to goodness concerns on many people's part about what the future holds for gun owners.  Hence, more people do seem to be hanging on to whatever they have unless they have a compelling reason to sell it.

Collectibles are moving at the auction sites, and auction houses, and, I think that most people would sell almost anything ahead of a gun, just to pay bills. Gun stores are not the best place to sell, in my opinion.

I'm starting to think about going through parts and duplicates, but, first-line items, no way - yet. I may be disposing of one of my 26" rifles in the forseeable future, however.

In fact, I just acquired probably the last rifle for the collection - a first model Navy Hotchkiss - a couple of weeks ago. In Krags, I'd need a Parkhurst, and an 1896 Cadet. Neither is going to happen!

I'm not expert enough to comment on the validity of the Carbine... but it sure looks correct to me.  Cracked hand guard... but it looks pretty good.

Thanks for the gun show comments.  I travel thru Vegas to help out ma-in-law in So CA.  After this trip, I expect the next one will be a gun show weekend!
