Title: Maintenance session question Post by Dick Hosmer on Feb 18th, 2014 at 4:02pm
For the Admin team:
Is it necessary for the "maintenance sessions" to destroy log-in links? It would be nice if the process could be tweaked to save those along with the myriad of material that does transfer over. Just a thought. Thanks again for providing this great website! |

Dick,
Yesterday morning the web hosting company that houses the KCA forum experienced a minor outage that impacted the availability of the KCA forum for approximately 15 minutes. When the hosting services were restored the forum was placed in Maintenance mode while we verified the forum's functionality. We also verified the content within the forum was still available. If you were logged in prior to, during, and then after the outage any draft/post that you were working would have been lost due to the outage. The outage would only have been apparent to users who navigated to a new page during the time services were unavailable. With regard to the maintenance windows; the forum is placed in 'Maintenance Mode' for routine maintenance such as forum backups, the forum is locked and cannot accept new content/posts. This is required to ensure 100% of the forum's content is available to be backed up during the maintenance window. A routine maintenance window usually takes approximately 5-7 minutes and is not initiated while users are logged into the forum. I hope this information is useful. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Regards, josh |
