I prefer the Krag model 1902 sight for 50 and 100 yard shooting. But, surprisingly, I have not yet fired a Krag at over 100 yards.
My 200 yd. and longer range shooting has been mainly with an M1 Garand or 1903A3 Springfield. Yesterday, I was shooting a model 1903 Springfield rifle, that I restored. It shot well, but, I didn't find the ('Buffington' inspired) model 1905 rear-sight, all that much to my liking at 50 & 100 yards. The upright leaf blocks a lot of the target area. I found it easy to line up on the wrong 'Bulls Eye'. Different strokes for different folks! |
