Title: The one hundred and twelth Krag Post by Culpeper on Jan 9th, 2017 at 8:40pm
Just thought you guys would like to see it. The loading gate is #8894 and the follower is #3893. The stock has been sanded at some time in the past but you can just make out 1894 if you hold it and your tongue just so. I am a hundred percent certain the cleaning rod is a reproduction of some type.

'Culpeper' - That's pretty cool ... can I have it?
(Too bad the receiver got 'notched' for the 'hold-open' pin. This model 1892 must have got the early 1900s rebuild/updates? The cut-off switch looks like a later 'reversed type', with the polished 'up' lever). Was the rod groove filled and then later routed out for restoration? I'm not bashing your early Krag. We don't get to see such a nice one very often. Thanks for sharing? |

There's a notch? If there is then I got ripped off. The stock is original. And the muzzle measures 1.5 with a CMP gauge. :D
And the worst thing is I have never put a round through it. :( Of course that can change when the swallows come back to Capistrano. P1020086_reduced.JPG ( 114 KB | 1

I am sorry I mentioned anything.
I took this spot (arrow) to be the 'notch', machined into model 1892 receivers, when they were updated to model 1896 features. culpeper1.jpg ( 78 KB | 1

You are totally correct and I am the pinhead. Geez. I had a stroke and forgot which side the dang notch is on.
My sincere apologies to you! Everybody! Don't listen to a word I say until the head removal service arrives and pulls it out of very bad place. |

'Culpeper' - You have a nice and interesting Krag!
I don't own an early Krag. The model 1892 rifles are a fascinating animal, including the 'updates'. Much is to be learned by studying your rifle pictures. Thanks for sharing. It makes the KCA Forum fun. |

Just curious Paul, Isn't this the one you promised to give to me in your will???
Darn nice looing Krag my friend!!! When you returning to the mitten? I'd love to get together (so long as it's after February)! You should try and come and plan it so you can go with my son and I to a match in K-Zoo... usually the fourth Saturday each month. |

My will? Hold on a sec while I check. Um, nope. However I can be swayed with moola to put you in my will. :)
Geez, I am still reeling from the idea of being a flawed human. I thought I was practically perfect in every way. At least that is what the chick with the unbrella told me the other day. That was the day we had high winds from an easterly direction. |

Sorry... but you should try to be a little more Burt and a little less Mary (of course, you'll have to sweep a few more chimneys though)!
It's a Jolly Holiday with you Culp... |

Be less Burt, agreed. Less Ernie? Sir, you have wounded my honor. ;) And next I shall hear Cook is not the second greatest muppet behind Rolf the Dog.
But back to the topic. I'll try to get more pics of the Magazine Rifle. |

Waldorf and Statler are looking to be 'Entertained', not 'Imitated'.
You are doing fine, enough gibber-jabber, just carry on! |

Mark
You want pics of those items on 112? Will have to wait for the the sun to show up. Which I hope is January 20, 2017 around noonish. I finally dug up the information on how much I paid for it and it goes without saying I wish I had Joe Farmer's book before I found it. In other news. I found two more 1901 carbine rear sights and a 1902 carbine rear sight. I need to have my head examined. |

When I saw the title to the thread "The one hundred and twelth Krag", I thought "Why does anyone need more than 111 Krags?". I think I understand what you are looking for and hope find it.
