Title: I inherited a Krag, and am looking for info Post by EasyB on Feb 15th, 2017 at 9:28pm
Hello all, I'm new to the forum. I inherited a Krag from my grandfather. I believe he purchased at some point between WWII and Korea (USMC). He left some shooting notes in the trap door in the butt-stock indicating he shot it in the early 50's. In all the time I'd known him, he was a pistol shooter and it was a safe queen.
Some info: - On the receiver it says "Model 1898. US Springfield Armory 462029" - Behind the trigger guard there is a cartouche. I can't make out the letter. Maybe an A or a D, maybe something else. - There is a U stamped on the barrel band. - Under the bolt on the left side there is a cartouche that says, "JSA 1903" I took several pictures and was hoping y'alls could help me identify what I've got, and perhaps a rough idea of its value? No intention to sell it, but simply interested to know. Also, where may I find information about field stripping it, cleaning, etc.? Much appreciated! IMG_7859.JPG ( 662 KB | 6
