| Title: Cartridge Belts in 1895 report Post by butlersrangers on May 6th, 2018 at 1:42pm
The 100 round, .30 cal., blue woven belts are referenced in the 1895 Report of the Chief of Ordnance. I falsely believed the (.30 cal.) 'double-loop', 100 round belt, followed the 50 round (.30) belt and was necessitated by Service needs in the Spanish War and Philippine Campaigns. This entry suggests the 100 round version was the first of the .30 cal. Belts. (I am always amazed by what and how much I don't know)! IIRC - The McKeever cartridge box would be resurrected, around 1902-1903, for 'Garrison and Guard Duties'. page58-belts-edit.png ( 152 KB | 1
