So I mysteriously had to go home sick around lunch time, and coincidences of coincidences (I hadn't checked tracking info since before work) the BBT showed up shortly after I got home.  UPS driver handed off the box with a "have fun with that" and a nod, and I was finally the newest proud owner of a Krag rifle.

Looks well cared for, but doesn't look like it had been taken apart in a long time.  There was caked on dried out oil present in all the nooks and crannies.  Took some scrubbing, and I probably could have used something better than Hoppe's, but I got it clean.

The follower spring was in there wrong and there was no tension on the follower. I had never seen the innards of the Krag, but it was pretty obvious how it went in there so I fixed that.

I took a long hard look at the area where the stock inspection cartouche is supposed to be, but could find no evidence that there was ever one there.

I found this stamp inside the stock.  Arsenal replacement?

Also found some seeds in under the rear tang. Kind of interesting.

And cutouts under the barrel channel
