Title: danish krag caliber
Post by hb9z on Nov 6th, 2012 at 6:37am
new to forum but not to the krag, though I just got my first danish 1889. auction house was selling it as 8x54 r (german rework wwII) ie a 6.5 x55 caliber opened up to an 8 mm ...any one knows any data about that ? I have seen that most are 8x58r.will get a 8x58 to see if it will chamber in AM.

Well, I can't say what has happened to that gun.  But, the Danish Krags were chambered in 8x58R.

I have a few of them and reload to shoot them.

Best regards,
Tom

sounds like a typo error on there part as most German ammo is 8x58 so do as you say and try a round and see iof it chambers.

8x54 KJ is rimless, 8X58R has rim, two entirely different cartridges.
