How do you get the band and band spring off without breaking the band spring ?

SWK: You press the rear of the band-spring inward (into the stock). The carbine barrel band can then be slid foreward. It may help to clean area with turpentine to disolve old hardened grease and oils. Lightly tapping barrel band with plastic headed mallet may free up parts. A golf tee (pointed end) can be used to press spring into wood slot.

Thanks butlersangers that worked, I got ot apart. I thought that might be the way it came apart, But better to ask than to break a original part so thanks again
