I wouldn't worry about the parkerized barrel, I have a US 92/96 that all the metal was parkerized on! I figured it'd look the same in another 100yrs, even if someone who didn't take care of it got it, so I bought it with the intention of giving it to my grandson when I'm done playing with it.
