Have a sporter 1894 but probably started as a rifle.  Barrel is currently 20 inches so not sure.  Serial is 9727, stock is off a rifle and cut down to full length, pistol grip spliced in and a higher comb added.

ALL 1894-dated arms started as rifles, except for a handful around the 11,000 range used in sight testing, and the two full-stock ed ones - both of which are accounted for. All of the "1894 Carbines", sort of a staple on Gunbroker, have so far, been bogus.
