Title: Took my first Deer with my Dads Krag.
Post by Texas10 on May 10th, 2017 at 1:53pm
I bagged my first ever deer with my Dads old Krag back in November. He bought the rifle from a pawn shop in Waco, TX right out of boot camp, and took it home to Oregon with him on Christmas leave. I  have a pic of him in this Army uniform, holding the rifle and standing next to a deer he took with it.

I had been doing some pig hunting recently with a neighbor, and got an invite to go for deer, so I decided to take the Krag as I had been doing some target shooting with it.

I took a mature Doe at about 90 yds right at sunset. She ran about 50 yds and flopped over.

And with that I closed the loop my Dad started back in '42. Took 3/4 of a Century, but I got'r done!

A WWII vet friend of mine began his service near Austin, at Camp Swift.  He was in the 102nd Inf Division.  Before that he was in Oregon in the CCC.  Pics would be nice.
