Title: Cartridge feeding problem Post by Kerz on Jul 7th, 2017 at 10:35am
Just FYI. Finally got to the range yesterday to chrono (already reported) and have some fun trying out Paul’s speed loaders. Never got to the speed loaders. I ran into a major feeding/jam problem while attempting to charge a round from the magazine box. The rounds would wedge tight when entering the barrel.
I contacted Chuck Moline (aka Chuck n Denver) about the problem. Note this rifle was just rebarrelled. He suspected a bent hinge pin rod or interference of sorts as the cartridge is being lifted toward the breach, e.g., rust, metal burr, etc. The rod did have a slight bend. I straighten and polished. Also I polished the travel area of the cartridge in the magazine area. No luck, still the same problem. I redirected my attention to the breach of the new barrel. The edge was very sharp. Using a Dremel tool, I polished off the sharp edge. Problem solved. Vic |
