Title: "More .45-70 Springfields 1873-1893"
Post by Dick Hosmer on Aug 21st, 2017 at 6:00am
Full name is: "More .45-70 Springfields 1873-1893, The Uncommon, the Scarce and the Rare". $24.95 from Amazon.com. Autographed copies will be available at a later date, directly from me, after the dust settles and I can lay in a supply. Price will be $29.95 but that will include postage.

In addition to ALL of the rare trapdoors, it also covers the 1875 Lee vertical breech, all five martial Hotchkiss models made at SA, as well as the 1882 Chaffee-Reece.

I have approved the final proof of the book - it should appear for sale on Amazon within 3-5 business days.

If anyone does buy it, PLEASE let me know if you find any errors and I will correct them. I'm sure that "tarpdoor" is in there somewhere, but my eyes are crossed from reading it over and over, and over.

At this time, I would like to thank all of my friends for their help and encouragement throughout what was a long (far too long actually) process.

I hope you will enjoy it.

Thanks, Paul. It actually went up for sale on Monday morning, and is drawing some attention. I'd greatly appreciate that anyone who buys it writes a brief (and honest) review for the listing on Amazon.

Received my copy Friday from Amazon.  I had no idea Springfield made so many variations.  Great book, meant to pack it for my trip yesterday but forgot  :'( Ironically, the day after I received this book I got a phone call that lead me to a nice 1873 Springfield.  Could it be magic?

Thank you very much! I've toyed with the idea of doing a Krag book, but doubt very much that I will - too much work, and the field is now pretty well covered.

What I MIGHT do - now that I am familiar with the self-publishing process - is a much shorter 'wrap-up' book in the same format, covering some of the accouterments, ammuniton, cartridge boxes/belts, etc. of the TD period, but that would be at least a year away.

Dick, I enjoy reading your work and writing.

You are a good, clear communicator. You explain things well with quality photographs and clear explanations.

You don't play obscure games or insult and talk down to the reader.

Thanks for always being a Gentleman! Your Krag knowledge and insights would be worth reading.

I'll second that!  Dick was one of the first to provide help to me when I first joined.  He was honest and respectful... and made me feel welcome!  Thank you Dick, for being a beacon on this forum, and a good friend to all!!!

Glad you are enjoying it - please (and this applies to everyone) submit a brief review on Amazon. Looking to build up credibility as fast as possible. Thank you.
