Is it common for an 1896 carbine to have a 1901 rear sight? Mine has the muzzle end notched into the barrel band. The stock has JSA 1897 and a spot on the left side of stock where the wood has been plugged in and area about 3/8"x2 1/4" approx. Any help would be appreciated. Serial #68520
