Title: Rough Rider Display
Post by butlersrangers on Jan 20th, 2018 at 6:41pm
I just got home from San Antonio, Texas.

Next-door to the Alamo is the Menger Hotel, where Teddy Roosevelt stayed, while recruiting the 'Rough Riders'.

There is a nice display of 1st US Volunteer Cavalry items at the Menger. (I took some pictures of the Display Case to share).

An ice storm hit San Antonio, while we were there. It shut down the town.

The Alamo was open and the crowds of tourists were gone! Being from the North, it didn't phase us.

Thanks for sharing and hope you had a great time!
Cool display with what appears to be superb well kept items.  Looking to get me one of those M1895 caps (blue baseball looking hat) to use for Cowboy Action Shooting, Wild Bunch category. Think they would mind if I borrow it for awhile?

My wife and I grew up in San Antonio. I still have family there. We spent our wedding night at the Menger.

That looks like a grand old piece of architecture from a bygone era that carries much history within it's walls.
