If ejection is an issue it looks like the scope could be pushed forward 3/4 of an inch or more if the mounts are moved. Getting the scope forward is the goal on a scout rifle anyway if the eye relief is OK.
On one of the older Rugers, they supplied a leather wrap for scopes to prevent damage to the scope's finish. Not just a bubba thing. :-)
