Title: Good things come in small packages.
Post by butlersrangers on Jan 22nd, 2018 at 11:45pm
Years ago, I learned that hobbyists, who had put "No-Drill" Receiver Sights on their 'Pet' Krag, oft times put the discarded Krag parts in the factory sight box, for safekeeping.

I have bought four commercial boxes, over the years, (at hardware stores, gun-shows, and ebay), that contained a magazine 'cut-off' lever, an original side-plate screw, and sometimes instructions and a rear-sight screw, or two.

These proved a good deal because I needed the boxes to house 'after-market' sights and the Krag parts were worth more than I paid.

Two weeks ago, I bought a green Redfield box and the pictured items for $20, including postage.

This box dates from around 1932. It contained a nice model 1898 'cut-off', a side-plate screw, and a sight screw. Also in the box was an altered 1903 Springfield front-sight blade, a sight-blade made from a Lincoln Cent, and a couple of nails and a screw, (that I haven't figured out?).

I don't need any more boxes, so I'm sharing the tip.
