Hey, nothing that a wood rasp, files, sanding, and paint stripper can't reshape into a useful 'Hunting Stock'!
It appears this was once a model 1892 Krag rifle stock. There are no lightening cuts in the barrel channel and the "retainer-block" for a Clearing-Rod, may be under that glob of paint. The Cleaning/Clearing-Rod groove in the Stock was filled at Springfield Armory during one of the 'update model 1892 rifles to 1896 standards' periods. |
