Photo is marked 3 February, 1954.
The vertical operating-rod 'handle' is different. I guess that was necessary to give access to the 'side magazine-gate'. BTW - The first High-Power rifle I ever fired was a Johnson in .30-06. Man was the recoil vicious! I was a solid, 5' 10"/ 135 pound, 15 year old. Shooting the Johnson from the sitting position, it practically rolled me onto my back. |
