Title: Those Who Served
Post by Knute1 on May 28th, 2018 at 12:44pm
On this Memorial Day, I would like to honor all those who have served on this forum and any family members. I myself did not serve, but I have a son recently out of the Air Force and another who has been serving in the Army for 11 years and is presently in Iraq. Thanks to all.
I thought it would be appropriate in this forum to post a picture of a Great Grandfather who had served in the Philippine Insurrection and in the Boxer Rebellion with Company I of the 14th Infantry Regiment. He is not in uniform, but is wearing his Army Stetson hat appearing debonair in a "look at me now" photo op. He dropped out of high school, looked for his destiny for a few years, then joined the Army at the age of 19 as a bugler and Private. His parents did not know where he went until he sent a letter home while in the Army. I speculate this picture was taken in Manila and sent home to his parents. Of course, he carried the Krag.
