'Rcat' - That certainly looks possible. The main differences, I see, are:

The Peerless Stock has European-style Cheek-piece and your Krag Stock has none. Also, it appears your Krag has a nice discrete barrel-band, (a vital feature - IMHO). The Stoeger conversion seems to lack this feature, with a Krag, a recipe for a 'cracked' Stock! Also, you have an open sight on your barrel.

I never really noticed that in some of these adds, Stoeger was offering 'Sporterizing' Services in a package deal on the customer's military gun.

(BTW - Pacific Gunsight Company also did this kind of work in the 1930s and 1940s).

'Sporting Rifle Conversions' were the bread and butter existence for many U.S. Gun-Shops and Smiths.
