Title: Give Me a Krag
Post by Knute1 on Oct 7th, 2018 at 12:59am
From a book titled "Oriental America, Official and Authentic Records of the Dealings of the United States With the Natives of Luzon and Their Former Rulers" dated 1899. It was written during the Filipino Insurrection. The book touted that it was based on facts and evidence and covered many subjects. Of interest was a South Dakota volunteer regiment that had to fight with the old Springfields. They weren't happy about it and felt that lives were lost for not having the Krag.

BR - where'd the oxen driven picture go? That was a classic. In this recent photo there is a soldier with sunglasses. I wonder if it was as cool then as it is now to wear them. "Cool" probably didn't have that meaning back then. "Going Hollywood" neither. I wonder what their slang would have been.

I believe the Officer with the 'sun-glasses' may be undergoing some type of medical treatment for 'eye infection or sensitivity'. The glasses make him look like a 'young Dr. Strangelove'.

The guys with the ox cart finally realized they were on an island and couldn't drive home!

(Actually, I removed some posted pictures because the KCA Forum seems overloaded with pictures and won't accept any more).

Oh, they're back at it!

I use Photobucket and paste them on. Does that make a difference? I noticed that when I do that my posts don't show there is an attachment.

Sure the guy on the left isn't Sam Elliott?
