Hi, I ASSUME that we'd buy the Volume 5 Krag book, but we all know the ASSUME acronym. I have two, an 1896 Carbine that's at least mostly original. At least the parts are all original now, no extractor when I bought it. I also have a 1898 rifle. The finishes are all dark. Neither were sporterized, but both were missing some parts. I've shot both and the rifle shots very nicely. The Carbine is getting a new barrel, but I get the old one back.
How much refinishing on the wood is too much? I"ve heard use the green cleaner, use Pure Tung Oil, use paint thinner, don't dare touch it, etc. Thanks |
