The process of making a Krag Jorgensen as printed in Scientific American in 1899. Might have to blow the print up a little bit.
The opening paragraph has the best explanation I have seen on what this rifle is called, official or not. The mispronunciation of both inventor's names by us Americans happened almost immediately.
