'jeaux1965' - It is very easy to misread some Krag serial numbers. The "3" often can look like an "8".
Your number is most likely in the 35X,XXX serial number range.
Check the stamped digits very carefully with a magnifying glass and vary the light angle.
Attached photo shows a model 1899 carbine, #349912. It was likely built in October, 1901.
Your carbine probably dates around November, 1901.
