Well done sir!

Very clear photos that would be handy for referencing and research.

You mind if I add your rifle to the KCA serial number database?

Advice- You are going about this wrong and clogging up the postings with this redundant question.

I would advise, and prefer as a KCA member, that you make one separate post and ask a general question to all readers if anyone minds taking posted Krag information and using it to create a database.

My take is, as a posting member, that, if I choose to post a Krag with its serial number, I have made the decision already to make this information public for general knowledge and use. Creating a "database" of serial numbers is a valid use, especially if you make this database public and available for our examination. I would love that!

Good luck!

Does the "KCA database" actually exist, yet? I know Tom was kicking it around and had asked for format suggestions, etc. Has it gone beyond that? To make a spreadsheet that can be usefully sorted, needs very careful design and a small trial population to see that it does what is wanted.

Tom has one listed at the top of the Military Krag postings. I don't know where he got all the data but it has a lot from other sources. I don't know if it is a "KCA" database, though. I have not given my list of Krag SNs. I don't know much about adding SNs to his list.

Maybe Tom's list needs to be advertised periodically and updated regularly. I seem to remember thinking it was getting a little too complicated as to all of the info requested and people lost interest.

Keep whatever is done simple. please.

Very nice photography. As a fellow photog I understand how difficult guns are to photograph. Nice background, lighting and clear detail. One suggestion relates to firearm safety. When a firearm is displayed with the cocking piece extended to the rear, It indicates the rifle is locked, cocked and ready to fire. Better to lower the striker and cocking piece on an empty chamber when photographing a displayed firearm. Keep up the good work.

That is my opinion also.  If I can read a serial number of a Winchester Lee on-line then it is published information and goes into my database.  Same holds true for Krags.

The "Observed Serial Number List" does exist and is being populated by fellow KCA members.  It is a "sticky" post at the top of the US Military Krags section.  In the post there is a link to view the list and a separate link to add your observed serial number to the list.

Best,
Tom
