Joel - Welcome to the KCA Forum.
It is likely your Krag is a Norwegian model 1895 Cavalry Carbine. #8429 was built in 1906 at the Kongsberg Vappenfabrikk, (Arms Factory), in Norway. Your barrel should measure about 20 and 1/2 inches in length. The carbine stock has a short forearm, secured with a single barrel-band, (Like a sporting-arm). The odd marking, you mention, is likely a stylized "K" & Crown, for Kongsberg. Pictures of your Krag would be enjoyed by forum members. |
