It took a bit of time and effort to unravel the 'context' of this Press Service Photograph!

Boxer Jack Dempsey, magician Harry Houdini, and boxer Benny Leonard. Where'd you come up with this one with Krag rifles?

A few years back, I was searching through Library of Congress 'digital archives - Bain News Service photo collection' and came across the photo.

I initially assumed it was U.S. Army or Navy recruits (WW1) being entertained by celebrities.

In trying to determine possible location, I uncovered real context. (The Library of Congress description threw little light on the story).

The men with Krags are New York City Police Cadets.

The situation is lead-up activities to N.Y.C. - P.D. - "Field Days" in August 1920.
