Title: Looking a pair of krag rifle handguard clips.

Is anyone making krag reproduction spring handguard clips? I think I could use a set on my current build. Would hate to use originals unless someone has an old stash and would part with a pair.

I once made a Krag handguard from scratch, using pieces of steel packing band for the clips and shortened common nails for rivets. The band material had just the right balance of springy and bendable to work well. Unfortunately, I took only this one picture before shipping it out, and the clips are hidden (of course).

Did you temper the clips to make them springy? If you did how’d you do it?

No, the packing-band material was fine as-is, cold-workable but springy enough to hold.

My first thought was using feeler gage stock, it comes in 25 foot rolls. Since the packing bands work the only reason to experiment with feeler gauge stock would be if the packing strap was not the ideal thickness. Feeler gauge would need to be tempered for sure as it will break if you attempt to bend a 90.
