Thanks again!  I really wanted to make sure this was an authentic carbine before looking for replacement parts.  If it wasn't authentic then I wouldn't put the money into it.

The bore looks typical for the age and about the same as my 1900.  I haven't shot it yet.  will do in the next couple weeks.  My 1900 is surprisingly accurate considering the age and condition of the bore.  The very first shot I took with it I hit an 8 inch gong offhand at 300 yards.  hopefully this one will be similar.   

I'll probably pick up a 1896 rifle rear sight to put it back at least to the right period.  Then I'll take the 1902 rear sight and put it on my 1900 (which currently has an aftermarket Redfield).   I'll keep and eye out for handguards - don't mind a reproduction just to get it looking right.
