Title: Assembling a 'Period' Shooting Box Post by butlersrangers on Jun 4th, 2019 at 5:10am
Since reading Dr. W.G. Hudson's (1903) book, "Modern Rifle Shooting - from the American Perspective", I have wanted to put together a facsimile of an early 'Shooting Box' of the Krag era.
I've slowly assembled period looking items and accessories, that are useful and might legitimately form some of the contents of a Shooting Box or Bag. Finding an inexpensive, but, credible looking case or leather bag has been my biggest hurdle. A few days ago, I found a useful carry box, made from an old Remington 12 Gauge Shot-Shell crate. The paint job and rustic workmanship spoke to me! My hunch is that this box once served some 'Sporting' purpose. Now, I just have to fabricate an internal tray and refine the contents of my Krag 'Range Box'. |
