Another viewpoint of the battle for San Juan hill. This by the 71st Regiment, National Guard. They were armed with Trapdoors using black powder cartridges. The regulars wanted them nowhere around them. This has been a topic before. But here is a document on the history of the 71st and what they were up against giving a different story than the one told by the Rough Riders. Pages 652 to 660 covers some of this in the link below.
