Title: Plattsburgh - 1917
Post by butlersrangers on Aug 25th, 2019 at 3:06pm
While recently searching for Krag photographs (online) at the 'New York Heritage Digital Collections' site, I copied these photographs taken in 1917.
The location is Plattsburgh Barracks, near Lake Champlain (a good lake, but, not a Great Lake), N.Y.

Uniforms and rifles had changed, but, the Range Firing-Line, target butts, and cleaning routine were likely similar in the Krag Era.

These aspects of military life were not commonly photographed. I thought they were worth sharing.

I'm surprised some of the 'marksmen' were not 'chewed-out' and were allowed to violate the Firing-Line. (There's a leg and some arms across the line).

I like the 'cleaning bench' and the 'scorer's benches'.
