Title: what weight bullets will be most accurate?
Post by Capt. Frank on Sep 5th, 2019 at 3:22pm
Just purchased an Ishapor (India) built Enfield chambered in 7.62x51 Nato, I measured the barrel twist as 1 in 12. My guess is, that Indians were smarter than we and others are, who used a 1 in 10 twist. Nato ammo used 147, or 150 grain bullets, which should be more accurate in the 1:12, than 1:10. I have shot 147, and 150 gr bullets in my M-1, and M-1A rifles (1:10 twists) , with poor results, both shoot very well with 168-175 gr bullets. Does anyone have any experience shooting a 7.62 with 1:12 twist? Any other comments?

I got to shoot the gun Sunday (the 8th), 150 grain bullets shot okay, but 168 grain shot much better.
